POST 78: IS THE MCGOWAN GOVERNMENT GENUINE ABOUT JOBS FIRST FOR WEST AUSTRALIAN’S?

Overview

In 2017 Mark McGowan made it a pre election issue that Perth be removed from the regional visa scheme to put locals first in line for jobs.

In 2018 he went back on his word releasing a big occupation list, over 150 positions for foreign students.

In 2019, the Premier reopened the large regional visa program in Perth, over 100 occupations for foreign migrants. In 2021, Mr McGowan kept the large State migration list open; yet nearly 100,000 West Australian’s are unemployed.

This does not suggest a genuine attempt to put West Australian’s first in line for jobs? There is an alternative.
